It's easy to drown in dashboards and obsess over numbers that don't pay the bills. For a small business, only a handful of metrics actually matter.
1. Reach / new eyes
Are you getting in front of new people over time? Growing reach means your top of funnel is healthy.
2. Engagement that leads somewhere
Not vanity likes, saves, shares, profile visits, and clicks to your site. Those signal real interest, not a passing scroll.
3. Leads and inquiries
Calls, messages, form fills, bookings. This is where marketing turns into business. Track it even loosely and you'll know what's working.
4. Customers and revenue
The only number that truly counts. Tie new customers back to where they came from when you can.
What to ignore
Follower count, one-off viral spikes, and likes-for-likes' sake. They feel good and tell you almost nothing. Watch the four above and you'll always know if it's working.
